Udated 4/13/13: Interest rates are still crazy-low, prices are still near their lowest point, but the number of houses for sale is shrinking and home prices are starting to rise. There are few short sales and fewer bank-owned deals.
Now is the time to make a move, before interest rates and home prices rise, pricing you out of the market. For a buyer looking at homes priced at $300,000, a 5% increase in home values would make that same house worth $315,000 a year from now. And, a 1% increase in interest rates, from 3.25% to 4.25%, may not seem like a lot, but the same house one year from now, might cost $245 more each month! Try it out on our rate calculator to see the difference between $300,000 @ 3.25% versus $315,000 @ 4.25%.
This will mean there will be fewer buyers who can afford homes, which isn’t good news for sellers, either.
